Working with Joan…

“We had a remarkable and meaningful experience working with Joan to create our Ketubah. From the moment we began working with her, we were struck by her love for her work as seen by her genuine interest in getting to know us as a couple. Joan was able to take us through a process of reflection, storytelling, and sharing to create an artful document that reflects the two of us as individuals and a couple. Months after our ceremony, we are still reflecting on how the process we went through with Joan was the most meaningful aspect of our wedding preparation. Every day we see the Ketubah and are impressed by its beauty as well as reminded of the special time we spent working with Joan on its creation.”

“Jed and I had a wonderful time developing our Ketubah with the skillful and creative artistry from Joan. We had looked online for Ketubahs, but they all looked so similar and didn't quite fit our needs.  The final design was exactly what we wanted – a simple yet distinctive design with our own heartfelt words.  Feedback we got from friends and family was that they were impressed with its uniqueness and that we had worked with someone who had clearly put significant thought and time into its creation.”

“We were thoroughly delighted by Joan’s artistic vision, her creativity, and her gorgeous creations. Both the Ketubah and the invitations she designed for us were arrestingly beautiful, eliciting great admiration from us and all of our friends. Joan’s flexibility and her willingness to consult with us from afar made the process easy and exciting, even from 3,000 miles away.”

“I approached Joan shortly before our wedding to discuss developing a piece of art that incorporated our vows and wedding poems in it. We were inspired by the idea of the Jewish Ketubah (marriage contract), but wanted something that would be a work of art and non-traditional in form. Joan was a wonderful, attentive listener and creative collaborator. Over the course of several meetings between Joan, my husband and I, we came with up the concept for a beautiful piece that really embodied our values, love and commitment to each other. Joan’s calligraphy is absolutely stunning and captured the emotion of the words in our vows and wedding readings. It has been more than five years and we still have Joan’s artwork in a place of honor in our living room. It has been something we can look at to visually reaffirm and remind us of our marriage and the intense, meaningful commitment we made to each other. Working with Joan on this project was one of the most memorable and important events in our marriage journey.”

“Joan worked diligently with a focus on Anya’s style rather than her own. She was extremely responsive to our needs and very punctual with the project deadlines that were set up. Joan was really good with email and phone correspondence along the way so that we always knew that the work was moving along and that helped to avoid a source of potential stress as we were getting closer the Bat Mitzvah. The end result was a very beautiful invitation which has received a lot of “Who designed your beautiful invitation?” and “If I had a daughter, I’d want to send out that very same invitation.” Comments. And lastly, Joan did all of this with a very pleasant and engaging demeanor. We made the right choice.”

Three daughters, three Bat Mitzvah invitations by Joan Lite Miller. Each one was a beautiful keepsake for my daughters to, God willing, show their daughters.
